David Byrne & Brian Eno
Reflecting on this stellar project, David Byrne writes: "Brian Eno and I recently finished our first collaboration in about 30 years. The name of the new record is Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang. It's familiar but completely new as well. We're pretty excited."
Mason Proper
Originally going under the name Patterns in Paris, the bandmembers relocated to Ypsilanti and switched their name to Mason Proper. January 2006 saw a self-release of their debut album, There Is a Moth in Your Chest, featuring cover art by Aaron Burtch of Grandaddy. Following label interest in mid-2006, the band settled with New York's Dovecote Records.
School of Seven Bells
Brooklyn's School of Seven Bells just may be your new favorite band. Helmed by Benjamin Curtis and sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, they came together in 2004 while their bands - Secret Machines and On-Air Library! - were on tour. Alejandra caught a show about the School of Seven Bells, a mythical South American pickpocket academy that may or may not have existed in the '80s, and the idea of seven minds working as one appealed to her.
