FlyFi is the brainchild of Emergent Music — a technology company with a solid reputation for building powerful discovery tools for music lovers.

But let's back up: before FlyFi, there was Goombah, our breakthrough desktop application, analyzing thousands of iTunes libraries, connecting people with millions of tracks, making meaningful connections and recommendations for new music.

Goombah's power as music discovery platform attracted the attention of record labels eager to make better connections with listeners. We've forged partnerships with these labels and musicians helping to acquire an impressive, ever-growing library of free, legal downloadable tracks (over 10,000 so far).

Developing Goombah taught us a lot about what music lovers really want and need from a taste-targeted recommendation provider.

We've applied these lessons to FlyFi. In Beta for about a year, FlyFi delivers a powerful recommendation engine that is now server-based, unleashes an iTunes data sniffer that provides diverse, cross-genre music and content recommendations and offers the ultimate in portability, capacity and flexibility because it's now a Web-based interface. With FlyFi, it isn’t history repeating itself. It’s history improving itself.
