Goombah starts by matching you to the 20 people most like you musically as the starting point for exploring the community. They are not only your tastemakers, but also your own "word-of-mouth" network. Browse entire music libraries of members and friends and see all the artists you have in common.  The new member profiles tell you people's favorites and top played, and more about the people behind the music. 

Goombah Overview

Goombah is a new way to discover music and build your collection.  It is free to users and completely independent.  

Goombah analyzes your iTunes collection and finds a unique set of matching members that share your taste - your iPod's soul mates.  It recommends their favorite tracks that are not in your collection. Goombah also suggests specific free tracks to download, or you can browse our entire Free Music collection of professionally produced music. Goombah currently draws recommendations from more than 7 million tracks in our members' collections.   Recommendations are changing all the time and new free tracks are added every week on "Free Music Fridays".

Recommended Tracks

Your initial recommendations are based on Goombah's analysis of your entire iTunes library. (You can also get specialized lists.) This default screen displays your free tracks in the top and members recommended tracks in the bottom.  Recommendations are updated continually as new members and music are added to the community.

Free Music Recommendations

• Free music tracks are selected for you from Goombah's Free Music collection of professionally produced promotional tracks.
• Just download and play the music.  Goombah creates a Goombah Free Music playist in your iTunes library.
• Browse the entire Goombah Free Music collection to the left.
• Come back every week for Free Music Friday.

Recommended Tracks from Member Libraries

• Favorite tracks from your matching members libraries that are not in your collection.
• Preview in iTunes or Napster, research or buy at your online source of choice, or save to "Tracks to Remember".
• Play with the "adventurousness" slider to change your recommendations from a broad consensus of your "matching members" to the very favorites of some of your members - from popular to fringe with a click.
• "Hide my Artists" suppresses all the artists in your library from the recommendations.
• "Blacklist" suppresses artists, albums or tracks that you don't want recommended to you.

Matching Members

Each member has their own unique set of Goombah "matching members" that share their taste in music.    You can browse members and friends libraries.

• Click on a member name to browse their library or profle, and see what you share and what they like that is not in your collection.
• Save "Favorite Members" as they are always updating.
• Invite your friends to become one of your favorites and keep up with their libraries.
• Members use a Goombah nickname and can choose to give online contact information.

List Settings

List settings are the basis for the recommended tracks and matching members that Goombah calculates for you.   Your default list setting contains your entire library.  You can modify this , as well as easily create new list settings for specialized searches.

• Unchecking tracks hides them from view by other members and for consideration in making recommendations.

     New Searches

• Create specialized searches based on your iTunes playlists, genres or artists.
• Click on "New List" and select the searches you want to make.
• New lists of free tracks, matching members and recommendations will be displayed for each search.
• You can also drag tracks into your search list from any of your lists on Goombah.
